Patch Test:
Test carpet for colorfastness; apply product to an inconspicuous area of carpeting with white cloth. If color transfers to cloth, do not use. Apply to affected area. Work into carpet and blot away stain with a clean, damp cloth. Reapply if necessary, but do not soak carpet. Carpet backing can be softened with overuse. For best results, extract with Encapsulating Extraction Cleaner 5821 to remove residue and prevent resoiling.
Get some absorbent terry cloth towels, that you can use to blot up spots with. Also, get a spray bottle and fill it with lukewarm water.
Apply the spot and stain remover to the area of the paint, oil or grease spot. Next, agitate the spotted area to get the chemicals working on the spot and penetrate the carpet fiber. Do this by using the edge of a putty knife or even a butter knife to work at loosening the spot from the carpet.
After a few minutes blot up the spot in your clean terry cloth towel. Work toward the middle of the spot so you do not spread it out and make it worse, and use a fist to push down hard on the towel, working the spot up into the cloth. Turn your cloth frequently to absorb the paint, oil or grease.
Rinse the spot by using your spray bottle of warm water to wet the area and blot up the excess with another clean terry cloth towel.
Repeat if necessary, otherwise, enjoy your clean, spot-free carpet!
If all else fails, and if the spot is small enough, you could try cutting out the carpet spots with a scissors or sharp knife. This only works for very small, but noticeable spots.
