Why Disinfecticide Cleaner 5822 is an important part of a mold
remediation protocol ?
While cleaning removes visible contamination, significant quantities
of microorganisms are often left behind. An application of
Disinfecticide Cleaner 5822 after cleaning destroys many of these
microorganisms, thus preventing them from multiplying. The
Disinfecticide Cleaner 5822 formulation contains high levels of
active ingredients, that destroy microorganisms upon application and
then provide residual protection against odor causing
microorganisms.

Usage: One
gallon of Disinfecticide Cleaner 5822 will treat approximately 900
sq. ft. of carpeting. Do not mix or add other chemicals or
detergents to Disinfecticide Cleaner 5822. Doing so may inhibit the
effectiveness of the product and could result in a chemical
reaction.
Preparation:
Prior to treatment, carpets should be thoroughly vacuumed to remove
loose dirt, particles or other contaminates. A vacuum with a HEPA
filter is recommended for removal of biological contaminates in
carpets to prevent the spread of airborne spores.
Pre-test:
Pre-test for colorfastness by applying Disinfecticide Cleaner 5822®
to an inconspicuous area and rubbing with a clean, white cotton
cloth. If the color changes or transfers to the cloth, a water-based
cleaning method should not be used.
Application:
Using a sprayer with an atomizer tip, pre-treat heavily soiled or
stained areas with enough Disinfecticide Cleaner 5822 Disinfectant
Solution to thoroughly wet the carpet fibers down to the nap. Next,
mist or spray Disinfecticide Cleaner 5822 onto the rest of the
carpet and allow a 10 minute soak or dwell time. A compression
roller, pilating rake or nylon brush can be used to work
Disinfecticide Cleaner 5822 into the nap of thick pile carpeting, if
desired.
Extraction:
Carpets should be cleaned with a truck mounted or portable
professional-grade carpetcleaning machine using clean, hot water. No
detergents or additives are required since Disinfecticide Cleaner
5822 contains anionic cleaning surfactants to break down grime,
grease and soil.
Drying: After cleaning and extraction, allow the carpets to dry as quickly
as possible. Drying timedepends upon environmental conditions, such as temperature and
airflow.
The use of ceiling fans, HVAC
system or commercial air movers can be used to expedite the drying
process. Carpets should be dry
to the touch prior to use, usually one to two hours.
Frequency:
Decontamination frequency will depend on the type of facility you
are in. Commercial
buildings that sustain high traffic use may require a weekly or
monthly treatment, while residential areas may only need a quarterly
decontamination treatment.
Note: Disinfecticide Cleaner 5822 will not remove scotch guard from carpet
since Disinfecticide Cleaner 5822 contains nonionic and anionic
surfactants that give it a near-neutral pH (7.4pH). Products that
are cationic (especially those that contain quaternary ammonium
chlorides - Microban QGC, Milgo, Shockwave) are harsher and have
more caustic pH's that will strip off stain resistant coating, even
those applied by the carpet mills during manufacturing. |
